Matthew Limbaugh, son of Ruth Kaul, has been selected as the Winter High School Student of the Month for February 2024!
Matthew is a senior this year. He has always worked hard to achieve good grades and this year has even gone outside of the box and requested Old English as an independent class. In addition to performing well in his studies, Matthew enjoys playing golf on the varsity golf team, and participates in band and Quiz Bowl. He also has gone to State for SkillsUSA and also tried drama club. Matthew has been accepted to St. Mary’s University of Winona (MN) for Business Administration.
Mr. Jack Delabar, the district’s physical education teacher says, “Besides being Mr. Reliable for concessions for basketball games, Matthew has taken a liking to weight training. He has purchased a membership to a gym outside of school and stays regular in his training routine. He reports his weekend exercises to me and we discuss different things that could help him reach his goals. He is always very helpful to both myself as well as students in the weight room.” Mr. Jeff Suralski, the High School Social Studies teacher and Golf Coach says, “As his golf coach, Matthew really stands out as one of the most valuable parts of the team. His passion for golf rivals only mine, and that is a real pleasure as a coach - to see that a student takes such sheer pleasure in the game itself that he thinks about it day and night and would drop anything to play. It could be freezing cold, windy and rainy and I think Matthew would be ready to play. In fact, I know he would because his clubs are in the trunk of his car right now!”
Additionally, Ms. Peterson, the district’s music teacher, says, “Matthew is an outstanding addition to the band department this year. He is always willing to try new percussion instruments and always goes the extra mile to learn how to play them. He is a huge asset to our band program.” And Mrs. Lueloff, the district’s business education teacher, says, “Matt is a person that you can't miss! He is always looking at the positives of life. He has really taken a liking to the concession stand. Matt doesn't just show passion to how it's run, he has taken a true leadership role to it. He makes sure that all roles are assigned and that things run smoothly. Matt is a one of a kind student in our school that WILL be missed.”
