Dear elementary caregivers,
Once the weather gets colder, it is important to remember our playground rules. If the weather is below 50 degrees, students must wear long sleeves or jackets for outdoor recess. Below 45 degrees, students must start to bring winter coats. Hats are also an excellent idea to keep little bodies warm.
Once snow arrives, students must have snow boots and snow pants to leave the blacktopped area of the playground. Students may leave their snow boots and snow pants in their lockers or cubbies. It is also a good idea to send an extra pair of gloves or mittens. They get wet or lost often.
If the temperature dips below 1 degree, outside recess is canceled. Students will still have recess, but it will be in the gym. Students can not play in the gym in their snow boots, so it is important to have an extra pair of shoes for school besides the snow boots.
If you know anyone needing help getting mittens, gloves, hats, or any other winter gear, we have many donated items at school.
Thank you!

Parent Warrior Weekly Update by Shana Lindquist, 4K-12 Principal:
It’s that time of year again when the snow starts falling. Winter changes some of the recess requirements. Students need to wear snow boots and snow pants to be able to leave the blacktop on the playground. It is also a good idea to send at least two pairs of mittens or gloves. If the temperature is below zero, students will stay inside for recess, using one of the gyms, depending on which is available.
Also, the first session of the afterschool program will wrap up next week. Once the afterschool program is done, there will be no afterschool bus. Afterschool’s second session will start on December 3. I will send forms home for the next session the week before Fall break.
